Accepting the recommendation of the Board of Directors, GBIO’s membership voted that long-standing President Rev. Burns Stanfield and influential leader Beverly Williams stand as Co-Chairs of GBIO. This officially honors the shared leadership work they have done over the last few years. Beverly and Burns are both strong leaders in their own communities and all across GBIO. They have brought us all together many times and led us to many wins. Working side by side, they also reflect the reality of our diversity. They look forward to leading the way as we broaden GBIO's power and strengthen our leadership base.

Shayok was born and raised in Los Angeles where he led student organizing efforts around immigration, public transit, mental health, and affordable housing in Claremont, California. He's an organizer because his badass Indian immigrant parents taught him to stand up for what's right, and because he's tired of watching people work so hard for so little because for too many of us the system is broken. He's READY and EXCITED to work on the health care campaign and take on big pharma, and is thrilled to take part of Refounding to help create a more representative and powerful GBIO.
